چکیده
Abstract Introduction Treatment of Eustachian tube dysfunction has remained an enigma for a long time. Balloon tuboplasty, even though effective, is not considered by many, as it invasive, expensive, and cumbersome. Hence, we tried to find some simple inexpensive solution the same in chronic otitis media. In this background, evaluated use barotubometer treat obstructive mucosal Materials Methods The pilot study was undertaken tertiary referral hospital with 25 cases 30 controls. Case group patients were administered therapy along ciprofloxacin-dexamethasone ear drops xylometazoline nasal until recovery or up 10 days. Control received Valsalva maneuver duration. Results categorized complete, partial, nil. It found that case had 60 32% complete partial recovery, respectively, while 33.33 13.33% control group. faster than maneuver. No complications observed new procedure. Conclusion simple, device can be used This particularly suitable peripheral health care centers developing countries.

متن کاملAnalysis of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction by Dynamic Slow Motion Video Endoscopy and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire in Chronic Otitis Media
OBJECTIVES Eustachian tube dysfunction has been associated with most cases of middle-ear disease. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of dynamic slow motion video endoscopy (DSVE) as a test of eustachian tube dysfunction. Furthermore, we assessed the correlation of the test with the Valsalva maneuver, the seven-item Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire (ETDQ-7), and intraoperative finding...

Evidence-based medicine is an approach to medical treatment intended to optimise patient-oriented decision-making on the basis of empirically proven effectiveness. For this purpose, a classification system has been established to categorise studies - and hence therapy options - in respect of associated evidence according to defined criteria. The Eustachian tube connects the nasopharynx with the...
